Mahira Khan And Haroon Shahid Differ In Opinion On ”Harassment” Issue

This is truly an era of female empowerment and feminist stances. From Bollywood to Pakistani showbiz a, almost every controversy boils down to gender inequality and female harassment or the forces fighting it. It is essentially a very tricky topic because you don’t want the bullying and harassment to run its ruins on males either, but you also do not want that fear to empower men to mistreat women once again.So let’s see what the two lead stars of upcoming movie Verna had to say about the recent issue of harassment raised by Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy against a doctor in Karachi;

Mahira Khan clearly supports the Oscar Award winning feminist, saying that using personal details by a doctor to approach a girl, it is definitely the wrong code of conduct. She said it is acceptable if someone is using a social platform to voice their complaint about a doctor. The debate is about how far will they be willing to take it.

The debutante Haroon Shahid, voiced his opinion that merely sending a friendship request does not constitute harassment in the true meanings of the term.

I believe this issue will always keep people divided on all sides..

“I wouldn’t ever do an item song” Naimal Khawar the Verna Actress

Naimal Khawar just aced what can only be described as a dream debut, what better way to start your acting career than to work with the filmography maestro Shoaib Mansoor himself. Born to a Persia mother and a Pakhtun father Naimal grew up in Islamabad and was studying visual arts when the opportunity knocked at her door and it is interesting to note that she didn’t want to be an actress in the first place.

Shahbaz Shigri the assistant director discovered this gem from her instagram profile and invited her over for the auditions, after getting the role Naimal’s family was still a bit paranoid but after explaining the fact that Verna isn’t the usual commercial film and focuses on something more than just box-office figures they approved of it.
In a recent interview Naimal said that her role is of Haroon’s sister and is very much like the real life her, she herself is very vocal about social issues like women empowerment, she also added that so far she doesn’t know if she really enjoys acting for now she will finish her thesis and then give acting any thought.

When asked of her experience with huge names like Mahira and Shoaib himself she said that she has learned a lot, Mahira being the star that she is doesn’t have any airs and is very comfortable to work with, she went on to say that the breaks during the shoots were her favorite part when they all laughed and had a good time where Haroon would sing for them and Mahira sometimes joined him.
She stated that she is getting a lot of offers these days but for now she doesn’t know if she is ready for it so she’d rather they wait.

“I do get other offers. I got some recently and called Shoaib Sahab asking what I should do. He said this is just beginning but don’t let it get to your head. And I won’t because I still have my studies to complete.”
She went on to add:

“There are dramas that are coming my way and some films as well. I want to see myself on the screen and I want to see how I do in films before I make a decision about my future. I want to finish my thesis as well before I take on any other projects.”

When she was asked if there’s anything she absolutely wouldn’t do she said and we quote:

“I think I would prefer roles that impact our society, in terms of social issues. I guess I wouldn’t ever do an item song or something of the sort.”

It does look like Shoaib has one more time given us a gem of an artist in the form of Naimal Khawar and we wholeheartedly want to see her succeed.

“I Was Obsessed With Acting Since Childhood”, Says Ahad Raza Mir

The latest heartthrob of Pakistani entertainment industry, the boy who has started selling dreams from his very first drama as the male lead, Ahad Raza Mir says acting was not only his passion, but his obsession, to the extent that he would get on stage whenever he saw a remote chance of performing.
Speaking to Nida Yair on her show, Ahad spoke about his aspirations as an actor just beginning to gain footage in the showbiz. He spoke of his gratitude and pleasure at the immense appreciation he has gotten during his first play. His parents had always allowed him to follow his heart’s desires and he knew that his heart was in acting, so it was a pretty straightforward choice for him to join this field.

He expressed his desire to venture into the film industry as well and is ready to learn and practice dancing, singing, romance and everything else required to succeed in there as well.

Speaking of his marriage, the handsome newcomer said that he prefers a beautiful soul rather than merely a pretty face, because the former is the only kind of beauty that lasts. He said he is closer to his mom and whenever he will feel the pull to marry a certain girl, he will be more inclined to share it with his mother than anyone else.

Ahad’s mother, Samrah Asif was also on the show. She said that Ahad is very complacent when it comes to food and appreciates everything that is served to him, and that he is very good in helping around the house and manages the chores including cooking and hoovering very well. She also spoke fondly of the mother son squabbles that she has with Ahad but they do not last very long from either of their side.

From this interview of his and his behaviour with audience, he seemed very genuine and humble and stardom does not seem to have reached his head yet. Hopefully, he will continue to remain himself as he proceeds to give us many more powerful performances to remember.

Adeel Chaudhry gears up for his latest project "Mohabbat Karna Mana Hai" on Bol Entertainment

While he waits for his debut Pakistani film Maan Jao Na to release and create a stir in the audience, Adeel Chaudhry is spending time focusing on another serial; this time for Bol Entertainment.
Titled Mohabbat Karna Mana Hai, the drama is a Furqan T Siddiqui directorial and is based on a script by Adeel Razzaq. "Its one big major project for Bol Entertainment with high end production values,

Adding further to the information, Adeel indulges us with the cast, "Mohabbat Karna Mana Hai is a multi-star cast project. It has Noor Khan paired opposite me (Adeel Chaudhry) as the lead; along with the very talented Samiya Mumtaz, Adnan Siddiqui and Alyy Khan, who play significant characters in the drama."

Judging from what Adeel told us about the story, and how it revolves around a romantic, intense love with differences between two families, we feel the drama will have some Romeo-Juliet vibes to it. We're just rooting for our couple to have a happy ending to their story though.

On signing up for another drama alongside Hiddat and Dil-e-Bekhabar, Adeel mentions that he wants his major focus to be on films only and how he is not looking at any more dramas at the moment. "I had to do this drama because I had made a commitment earlier. Although I now feel pleased and majorly proud doing Mohabbat Karna Mana Hai due to its engaging story and very high production values."

Although Maan Jao Na will be Adeel's Pakistani cinematic debut, the actor has already enjoyed the perks of working in a full-fledged Bollywood flick and alongside Shahrukh Khan as well. And now, while we wait for Maan Jao Na and Mohabbat Karna Mana Hai, Adeel gears up for another film for which he will share details soon.

“I learnt the guitar for a good five months” Bilal Ashraf on “Rangreza”

Bilal Ashraf made his acting debut in Operation 021 as a supporting actor but soon got his first lead role in last year’s Janaan, though he couldn’t impress the critiques but the public lauded this lad’s performance. Bilal managed to get a thumbs up from critiques after his amazing performance in Yalghaar. This gorgeous actor is all set to amaze us again in his upcoming film “Rangreza” releasing December 21st.

In the recent trailer Bilal is seen as a rockstar so when asked of what he had to go through to ace this role the actor had the following to say:

“I have put my heart and soul into the film. Even though it was really difficult playing a musician, I was convinced I could do it. I hope the audience like my attempt.”
He was further asked if he had any previous music knowledge to which he had the following answer.

“I learnt the guitar for a good five months and took a lot of training, especially for this movie. It’s been a lot of hard work.”

Though a lot can be figured out about the story line of the movie by the trailer but Bilal shared some insight too.

“The film is a musical journey, and it portrays all the emotions – drama, love and romance, all come together to form a unique story. There’s also a lot of anger portrayed through Gohar’s character, which you can see in the trailer.”

We sincerely hope all the hard work that Bilal and team Rangreza put into this film is paid off and the film takes the box office by storm.

Syra And Asim Clash Over Rehearsals

Hum Awards powered by Q mobile dazzled Karachi last night, from all sorts of style statements we saw on the red carpet to aesthetic performances it was wowzah. That wowzah level of entertainment looks so effortless on the T.V screen but it really isn’t. Celebrities go through arduous rehearsal sessions just to make that annual event a night to remember.

On one such arduous session when both Asim Azhar and Syra Shehroz were totally exhausted both physically and mentally they had a minor trifle.

The argument started when Asim had been waiting for twenty minutes for his rehearsal to start since the management had given him that time but the choreographer was still busy practicing with Syra.

Everyone started persuading Asim and requested him to wait a little bit more and meanwhile have a cup of tea or something. To which Asim said that they should’ve told him they weren’t free when Asim had contacted them earlier to confirm the timings to which the choreographers were apologetic. Asim insisted that he has no free dates in the future so he must rehearse today he also said he’d contact the management and let them know what’s happening down here to which Syra said “You really don’t need to throw a fit over this” Asim countered this with “I’m really not throwing a fit” after which Syra walked out.

We’re hoping they resolved this issue right there and then prolonging such mundane arguments gets no one no where.

Gohar Rasheed Talks About Rejecting “Neerja”

Gohar Rasheed is a Pakistani actor mostly known for his work in drama serials like “Digest Writer” and “Mann Mayal”. The actor has also worked in movies like 021, Yalghaar and is currently coming up with yet another feature film Rangreza.

In a recent interview Gohar talked about his journey so far, the actor revealed that his father wasn’t exactly ecstatic about him joining the entertainment industry and was pretty sure Gohar would fail and return home in a few months but God works in mysterious ways and from Karachi’s theater scene Gohar ended up straight in the Best Actor nominees at the New York Film Festival for his movie Seedlings. Since then Gohar Rasheed has become a household name.

In his interview Gohar talked about his faith in God and fate, that one can try his best and leave the rest to God, he also added that tho our nation in general is racist and prefers “fair skin” anyone, no matter how gorgeous, can’t and will not survive without craft and skill. The actor said that he loves playing “the baddie” but won’t mind playing the good guy once in a while to prove his versatility.

When asked about working in Bollywood the actor had the following to say:
“It’s a creative process, acting and film-making. So if I get an invitation with dignity and respect, I’d love to go. My only concern is that the script should be good and it shouldn’t pit me as ‘the Pakistani guy.’ I rejected Neerja for this very reason… because I felt that I was there as a token Pakistani actor which is not what I am about at all! I am more than just a namesake. If it’s a good collaboration, if it’s exploring my potential as more than just ‘that Pakistani actor in an Indian film,’ yeah I don’t mind.”

We agree with Gohar through and through, art is nothing without dignity and sincerity, we wish the actor all the luck for his future endeavors because this industry deserves a better class of villains and he’s gonna give it to us (hard to miss but it’s a Joker reference).

Arth releases its official trailer and has us spellbound for the entire duration!

Shaan Shahid starrer Arth- The Destination, just released its official trailer and has us hooked. The approx two and a half minutes trailer gives you a solid insight on the film and showcases its exceptional production quality.

Introducing the four main characters and the story line, the trailer for Arth leaves you wanting more from the film. An unhappy marriage, struggles to make it work, efforts to make it to the top, love, hate, deceit and everything that goes on behind the facade of glam and superstar lives, infidelity, lies, lust, the trailer for Arth tells all. Not to forget, Shaan, Humaima, Mohib and Uzma each look super glamorous and downright amazing!

Also dishing out a few of the background scores, the trailer has managed to grasp our attentions with the soundtrack of the film as well. It is intense, it is hardcore and its making us anticipate the film more than ever. Even though Arth is said to be officially inspired by Mahesh Bhatt's film of the same name, Shaan Shahid's remake stands out on its own, and that too with its head held high.

Without a doubt, this exceptional quality trailer has us craving to watch the film right away. December seems too long a wait for Arth. But one thing we're certain for; regardless of the competition Arth faces, the film has an extraordinary quality of its own, to hold out strong amongst all others.

Read Full Review of Drama “KHAN”

GEO TV’S MEGA DRAMA SERIAL”KHAN” IS REACHING ITS LAST EPISODE – CAN YOU PREDICT THE CLIMAX?
Drama Serial KHAN which is not powerful in terms of story but heavily loaded with some big names of the TV screen, Nauman Aijaz, Nauman Masoo, Shaista Wahidi and Aijaz Aslam. The male dominant character of Nauman Aijaz was the soul of the serial which was complimented by empowered and bold characterization of Shaista Wahidi as a politician.

Shaista Wahidi as a strong and independent woman who was a rape survivor and was sincerely and truly in love with KHAN justified her role throughout the series. The chess game of politics and twists and turns in the story sustained the audience’s interest and built curiosity which stayed till the last episode.
The characterization and storyline were critically picked and actors gave their best shots to justify their roles. It was a balanced combination of drama, thrill, action, and power, winning and losing throughout the season, mesmerizing the audience with the ups and downs in the story.

The charismatic yet dominating personality of KHAN grabbed audiences’ attention and the comeback of Nauman Ijaz on the TV screen in a powerful character dazzled the viewers.
